SNOWDROPS have been falling in Killarney but with guiding hands in strategic locations as the dedicated Killarney Looking Good Committee ensure the town is looking its best this springtime.
Volunteers spent several hours on Saturday planting snowdrops in the green areas along Mission Road following last year’s very successful bluebell planting project.
Killarney Municipal District Officer, Eileen O’Donoghue, remarked: “We had a wonderful turnout of volunteers who planted 7,500 snowdrop bulbs. It is the committee’s intention that the planting will improve biodiversity and enhance our environment.”
Eileen added: “We have an amazing national park on our doorstep and this was another great opportunity for people to come together and enhance the link between the town and the park.”

Saturday’s event was supported by South Kerry Development Partnership, Kerry County Council and Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce.
