Snow and ice on county bounds

Screen Shot 2016-02-26 at 21.31.46MOTORISTS travelling between Killarney and Cork tonight have been advised to exercise great care as there has been a heavy fall of snow on the county bounds.

Temperatures plummeted as low as -2 over the past half hour and the snow appears to be remaining on the road, particularly on higher ground.

Those that have to travel are urged to drive carefully, allow plenty of time for their journey and to keep a safe distance from any vehicles travelling in front of them.

They have also been asked to refrain from overtaken as the road is hazardous in parts.

Met Éireann has just issued a Yellow Alert for Kerry with a warning that accumulations of 3cm of snow is anticipated on higher grounds and that it is likely to turn to ice and result in slippy roads.
