KERRY County Council has this evening asked motorists to avoid the Conor Pass in west Kerry following heavy snowfalls and icy conditions.

There has also been snow at the Kerry-Cork county bounds on the N22 and driving conditions there are poor.

In all parts of the county, motorists are asked to drive with care and allow plenty of time for journeys this evening and throughout Friday.

Council crews are already salting main routes but motorists have been advised to always exercise caution and drive with care.

Council staff are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as the evening progresses.
