THE hand-carved wooden quill snapped off and stolen from the sculpture of the monk of Innisfallen on East Avenue Road sometime on Sunday has been found.
It was located early this morning in a grassy area in front of Killarney Outlet Centre by a contract cleaner arriving for work.
The location is just very short walk from where the attractive wooden sculpture is located beside the new ANAM arts centre.

KillarneyToday.com revealed late on Sunday night that vandals had targeted the monument and that the quill – which was depicting the legendary Annals of Innisfallen – was snapped off at the base.
Two days previously the landmark deer sculpture at the Port Road-New Road junction was also targeted and the antlers were damaged.
Killarney Outlet Centre General Manager, Paul Sherry, said the quill is intact apart, obviously, from where it had been snapped off at its base.
Killarney Looking Good Committee volunteers, who commissioned the sculpture and who were thrilled to learn that it had been found, will now decide on the best course of action going forward in terms of putting the feature back in place in a safe manner.
