Shrone National School wins the Frank Buckley Cup

The St Patrick’s Day celebrations started a week early in Rathmore where one of the first parades in the country was held on Sunday.

There was a great atmosphere for the occasion as locals and visitors painted the town green to celebrate the patron saint.

The grand marshal for the day was community council stalwart Brian Kelly and he was master of all he surveyed from the grandstand as the colourful groups marched by.

The Frank Buckley Cup for the best overall entry was won by Shrone National School.

Other prizewinners on the day were Gerard and Jason Lawlor (best vintage entry); Rathmore Credit Union (best commercial float); Pumpkin Farm (best agricultural float); Hollymount National School (best organisation); Danny Fitzpatrick (best buggy Dad’s Taxi); Emma Buckley’s Preschool (best window display).
