KILLARNEY Cycling Club competitor Shayna Daly was the second girl to finish in the under 12 race run at a rally connection closed circuit in the Dungarvan Cycles Cup in Co Waterford.
In the under 16 race the team put in an excellent performance with Patrick Galvin second, Stefan Dreier in third and Tadgh O’Shea finishing fifth. Lorcan Daly and Ethan Slattery, of the famous Slattery cycling clan), were both inside the top 10.
Tara Kissane was the second girl to finish in the under 16 race.
In the A1/A2 race Killarney had Marcus Treacy, Patrick Clifford, Conor Kissane, John Brosnan and Richard Maes riding over 150Kkm and they covered the distance in three hours and 20 minutes which was a very fast pace for a hilly course. All riders finished in the top 20 and they are looking in good shape for the upcoming Tour of Ulster.
In the A3 race Jamie O’Donoghue came home safely in the main bunch and he is soon to move up the ranks into A2 category.
Mike Kissane and Heiko Dreier also raced with Mike well up in the bunch. Heiko is still finding his legs as he has just started his campaign but he still rode very well to finish the 110km race.
Tim O’Regan, meanwhile, performed excellently in the Deenside Cup in Kilkenny to take 10th place and Almha Kissane at the Sprinters League at Sundrive Road, Dublin put in some great performances. On Sunday she took part in the women’s intermediate league road race and gained excellent experience.
