
Journalist Katie Hannon following a long line of influential and high-profile personalities to be honoured with the Person of the Year accolade by the Kerry Association in Dublin.
The award was first initiated in 1979 to recognise people from Kerry who had made an outstanding contribution to life in their chosen field and many of the those selected have been household names in business, sport, community, entertainment and other fields.
The award recipients over the years included a number of people from Killarney including former GAA President and current MEP Seán Kelly, footballer Colm Cooper, cancer society marathon man Pat O’Connell, Ring of Kerry Cycle founder Denis Geaney Brian O’Mahony for his work with the Irish Haemophilia Society and tidy towns champion the late Archdeacon Michael Murphy.
