It has been an important and eagerly anticipated part of summer in Killarney for the best part of half a century and the competition was just as intense this year as it was at the very outset.
The Killarney Athletic AFC 7-A-Side soccer tournament, sponsored by Killarney Credit Union, has just drawn to a conclusion and, amazingly, this was the 45th year of the popular community event and it’s still going strong.

In the senior final The Flesk Restaurant pipped Four Star Pizza on a 2-1 scoreline while in the Reserve Cup decider Fenit Folders were too strong for GM Tyres.
Aghadoe Physio registered a 2-1 victory over Tim Jones Butchers in the Over 35 final while Tricel beat Floggie FC 3-0 in the Under 16 decider.
In the under 14 final The Tyre Kickers beat The Shanty 3-0.
The underage player of the tournament, who received the Johnny Heffernan Memorial Perpetual Plaque, was David O’Donoghue of Tricel FC while Evan Cronin received the Kieran Cahillane Memorial Perpetual Cup after being crowned senior player of the tournament.
