KERRY remains the county with the lowest 14-day coronavirus incidence rate in the country this Sunday with less than five new positive tests returned in the county in the past 24 hours.
Official figures show that in the 14-day period from March 8 to March 22, there were 33 confirmed cases in the Tralee electoral area, 16 confirmed cases in the Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District, 12 in Listowel and seven in Killarney.
There was no case confirmed in either the Castleisland area or the Kenmare Municipal District during that fortnight.
Nationally today, 13 more Covid-19 deaths were reported – 12 occurred this month – with 604 new cases confirmed.
It brings the total number of cases to 234,541 and the number of people who have died to 4,666.
Of the cases notified today, 299 are male 298 are female and 77 per cent are aged under 45. The median age of those infected is 27.
224 of the newly diagnosed cases are in Dublin, 45 in Donegal, 36 in Kildare, 34 in Limerick and 26 in Tipperary with the remaining 239 cases spread across 20 other counties.
Early this morning, 322 patients were in hospital being treated for the disease and 66 are in intensive care. There were 18 additional admissions to hospital of people that tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
The Health Protection Surveillance Centre said county data should be considered provisional as the national computerised infectious disease reporting system sees case details continually being validated and updated.
