The post offices to close in Kerry include Gneeveguilla, Currow, Ballymacelligott and Knocknagoshel

A DOZEN post offices are to close in Kerry with confirmation from An Post that a total of 159 offices in 25 counties are to cease operations.

They will close following the retirement of the local postmasters, as part of an agreement with the Irish Postmasters’ Union, and the company said it will seek to ensure that the services enjoyed by customers will be consolidated in the nearest available office remaining open.

The offices to close and the nearest PO locations

The post offices to close in Kerry include Gneeveguilla, Currow, Ballymacelligott and Knocknagoshel.

Also closing will be Asdee, Moyvane, Ballinskelligs, Mastergeehy, Ballylongford, Duagh, Kilflynn and Banemore Cross with the PO to the latter now in Lyrecrompane.

An Post said they are all in locations where there are fewer than 500 people are living. A number of the post offices have already closed and the POs that are remaining open will receive investment supports aimed at improving services for customers.
