Sem’s big achievers share the spotlight

Killarney’s St Brendan’s College has honoured its high achievers in a number of disciplines at the annual school student awards.

Principal Seán Coffey and guest speaker, Beaufort native and entrepreneur Niall O’Leary, vice president of biotechnology operation Regenron, presided at the ceremony which was attended by pupils and their proud parents and families.

This year’s board of management award for academic excellence went to Ethan Slattery who excelled throughout the school term and registered very impressive results.

Colm Looney scooped the Dr Tadgh MacCurtain Memorial Award for outstanding achievement in maths and physics in memory of a former vice president at the school who was an outstanding mathematician.

Eoghan O’Dubháin was the winner of the Bishop Diarmaid Ó Suilleabhain Medal for outstanding achievement in Irish in memory of the former Bishop of Kerry who had a real passion for the promotion of his native language.

Cian Foley won the medal for outstanding achievements in business while Kacper Bogalecki was the winner of a gold medal award for outstanding academic achievement at the school.
