Sem boys impress at national level

In the national secondary schools’ competition there was another good showing by the St Brendan’s College teams in Fermoy. After finishing third in the Munsters, the team of Lorcan Martin, Adam Kelly and Cillian Courtney finished second in the nationals with a combined score of five under par seeing them hold off Munster winners Colaiste an Chraobhín from Fermoy by a single stroke for second.

The team of Darragh O’Callaghan, Jack McCarthy and Padraic Looney also finished sixth overall with Padraic posting an impressive individual score of seven under par. The other team of Jason Cahillane, Cian O’Mahony and Gary Vaughan finished just outside the top 10.

Results: Sunday Fourball First Nett: Sean O’Brien and Noel Moynihan 34½, Gross: John McGrath and Ger Casey 42 and Second Nett: Ger Casey and; Noel Moynihan 38. There will be no game this Sunday due to Paul O’Sullivan Memorial Scramble in Castleisland on Sunday.

Memorial: The Paul O’Sullivan memorial three ball scramble is set for Castleisland this Sunday morning at 9.30am. Entry at €10 per player is open to all PPUI registered members in Kerry with a draw for teams at that time.

Cards: All registration cards can now be collected at the club shop. Please note that it takes up to seven days to complete registration with the PPUI so if you are interested in playing in a specific competition we would urge you to join in plenty of time to avoid disappointment.

Dates: We ask any member interested in playing in the Bob Casey to ensure they are both registered and have their names given to John or Kieran by this weekend. Munster Strokeplay deadline also approaching.

Clubhouse: Just to confirm our clubhouse opening times for May of 5pm- 8pm (weekdays) and 12pm-7pm (weekends), weather permitting.
