Secondary school honours its great achievers

Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra in Rathmore has celebrated the achievements of students in their academic studies, extra-curricular activities, active citizenship and contribution to school life, inside and outside the classroom.

Principal Denis Kerins said it is always a very special day in the school calendar which brings together the whole school community to celebrate students.

This year’s special guest was Christine O’Donoghue de Vries, artist and designer at House of Kerry, who reminded students of the important of really focusing on their values which making decisions at different stages in their lives.

She also stressed the importance of having the courage to be authentic and true to themselves.

Karen O’Sullivan and Seamus O’Connell, who shared the role of MC, also had important advice for students to always remember where they came from, to be kind, honest and hard-working, with Seamus reminding them that Sliabh Luachra wasn’t just a place but a state of mind.
