
THE search for missing Killarney man Matt Hodd, who hasn’t been seen for over 24 hours, resumed at first light this morning having been suspended shortly after 9 o’clock last night.
The 42-year-old, from Coolies, Muckross, was last seen in the Whitebridge-Ballycasheen area at 11 o’clock on Friday morning and Gardai and his family have real concerns for his welfare.
A major search operation resumed this morning with Gardai joined by the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team, Civic Defence and the Killarney Water Search and Recovery Unit. The Shnnon-based Irish Coastguard helicopter service also joined in the operation on Friday evening.
The search is focusing on the area between Whitebridge and Flesk Bridge and the adjoining forest and scrubland with Garda are acting on information received regarding where Mr Hodd was last spotted.
Mr Hodd has very distinctive features with long hair and a full beard. He is well known in the town and is very actively involved in the promotion of open air poetry sessions in the national park.
