Schools play the game in Pat’s memory

A memorial tournament dedicated to a great camogie stalwart has been held in Killarney with pupils from four small primary schools taking part.

It was held in memory of Pat Sheehan who was a minor trainer with the Killarney and Kerry camogie teams last year but, sadly, he passed away unexpectedly last December.

The tournament was well attended with Pat’s wife, Geraldine, daughter Ilona and extended members of the family in attendance to watch the action.

The schools that participated were Cahir, Hollymount, Knockanes and Tiernaboul.

The event also included a poc fada competition and a player of the tournament award was presented with all trophies sponsored by Pat’s employers at the Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney where he worked for 26 years.

Hollymount NS had a very exciting win over Tiernaboul in the final and the poc fada was won by a player from Hollymount.

The Cahir team

Geraldine and Ilona presented the winning team captain with the trophy.

The late Pat, who lived in Kilcummin, played a big part in the development of camogie in Killarney and throughout the county and he was the manager of the Killarney club’s minor team who won the county final last year.
