THE team at Killarney Credit Union is encouraging children and schools in the South Kerry area to start preparing their strategies as they go in search of victory in the keenly contested All-Ireland Schools Quiz.
In its 29th year and with over 25,000 schoolchildren set to take part, the competition will culminate in a fiercely fought national final at the RDS in Dublin but, before that, there are the local deciders.

The knockout stage at local level, organised by Killarney Credit Union, will take place at the INEC, Killarney on February 2. There will be some fantastic prizes for the winning teams of four who will also progress to the regional knockout stage in early late February or early March.
The winning teams from the regional stage will then make it through to the grand final in April with Today FM presenter, Fergal D’Arcy, returning as quizmaster. All teams will have their eye on the prize with a total of €4,000 up for grabs for the overall winning schools.
Karena McCarthy, Youth Officer with Killarney Credit Union remarked: “We are putting the war cry out for children and schools to do battle in this year’s quiz. It’s a fantastic opportunity for schools in the South Kerry area to nurture a culture of partnership among students and we would really encourage all schools to get registered for the 2020 event”.
In 2019, Lissivigeen National School came in joint third in the under 13 age category at the national finals. The team comprised of Harry Bolger, Shane O’Sullivan, Aoibhinn Kelly and
Donnchadh Daly.
Registration for the 2020 quiz is now open and primary schools in the South Kerry area will be sent registration packs in the coming week with application details. Alternatively, contact Karena on 064-66331344 or k.mccarthy@killarneycu.ie.
