SPA’S senior footballers might not have got all they asked for when they faced Dr Crokes in Sunday’s O’Donoghue Cup final on Sunday but the club’s juvenile players will be hoping for a better success rate with the wish lists they handed over to Santa Claus at the weekend.

Visiting from the North Pole to enjoy some of the big match build-up, Santa was hoping the elves would work a little big extra hard making all the toys on Saturday to allow him to take his place on the terraces in Fitzgerald Stadium the next day and although he was wearing his mask, as requested, he remained neutral and politely declines offers to wear the blue and gold or the black and amber.
Santa was a smash hit when he arrived in spa on Friday night and the club’s hardworking committee, spearheaded by Marie O’Keeffe, as well as the Spa Coiste na nOg officers, ensured everything was perfect for the big occasion.

Isabel Waters, Niamh Daly, Dani Tangney Kissane and Ciara O’Donoghue were busy Spa elves on the night and they ensured all the children had a fun-filled time.
All the children in attendance received a gift or a treat as they were all delighted to learn that they were on Santa’s nice list.

Santa and Mrs Claus were on hand the following morning to collect all the letters that the children dropped into the special postbox at the clubhouse and Santa himself will return closer to Christmas to collect the rest.
He had hoped to have his photograph taken with the O’Donoghue Cup but, instead, he will arrange to get that when he visits the equally excited boys and girls at the Dr Crokes headquarters on Lewis Road.
