Sadness at death of Paul O’Connor

roses2KILLARNEY has been saddened by the death, at a young age, of Paul O’Connor who was part of a very prominent and popular business family in the town.

Paul, who passed away on Thursday night, following an illness, was the youngest of a family that owned the successful WK O’Connor and Sons building firm.

The family developed and owned the town centre Innisfallen Mall and Mustang Sally’s public house and they were the contractors for several of the landmark developments in and around Killarney over the years.

Paul was a passionate Liverpool fan and also played soccer at a local level with Killarney Athletic FC. He played underage GAA with Killarney Legion.

Paul, who was in his very early 50s, is survived by his wife, Joan, and children Jack and Áine, as well as Ryan and Shane in New Zealand.

He is further survived by his brothers Pat, Dermot, Billy and Johnny and sister Sheila.

Paul’s remains will repose at O’Shea’s Funeral Home, Killarney on Sunday from 4.00pm to 6.00pm with removal afterwards to St Mary’s Cathedral.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10.30am on Monday followed by private cremation.

The family has asked for no flowers or mass cards and donations, if desired, should go to palliative care
