Ross Castle in green and at night deemed a winner

A SPECTACULAR after dark shot of Ross Castle, illuminated in a deep shade of green with the landmark structurereflecting in the surrounding lakes, was deemed a worthy winner of a photographic competition promoted by the organisers of the annual St Patrick’s Festival on Killarney.

Entries were invited from members of the public with a St Patrick’s Day in my 5k theme – in keeping with the Covid-19 travel restrictions – and this fabulous image was the winner alright.

The photograph was taken by Christopher Fitzgerald and for his efforts he will receive a hamper of the finest artisan produce, donated from local food producers, local market traders and specialist suppliers.

The judges, who were very impressed with Christopher’s entry, said: “The mystical starry night image of Ross Castle in Killarney National Park evokes beauty and serenity, captured wonderfully. It took time and patience and the stars were definitely aligned”.
