The 21-year-old student, who was last night chosen as the Kerry Rose for 2023, is a very accomplished singer and musician who has performed for President Michael D Higgins and his wife, Sabina, as well as taking leading roles in stage shows and musicals during her school days in Coláiste na Sceilge in Caherciveen.

She also narrated the award-winning Kerry film The Uncountable Laughter of the Sea, directed by Patrick Brendan O’Neill from Ballyheigue..

Smile for the camera: Stunning Kerry Rose Kelsey Lang McCarthy

Kelsey again delighted the packed attendance at the Killarney Heights for the Kerry Rose selection on Sunday night when she sang and played guitar and there was no shortage of support for the talented young lady from Ballinskelligs.

Kelsey, the first ever Coast Community Rose, was shocked but delighted when host Daithí Ó Sé called out her name as the winner and it sparked great celebrations for her overjoyed family and friends.

The new Rose is currently studying podiatric medicine in the National University of Ireland in Galway and, when she graduates, she hopes to travel for a while to experience other cultures before setting up her own practice in podiatry.
