Kerry County Council has advised the public that several roads will be closed in the county this weekend to facilitate a number of key sporting events that are being held.

Most of the attention will be focused on Killarney for the L’Etape cycling event which has attracted thousands of visitors.

The Dingle Marathon and the Lost Sheep Triathlon in Kenmare are also taking place this weekend and, as a result, road closures are essential to ensure they are run safely and successfully.

Road users are reminded to check for road closure notices, plan their journey ahead, follow signposted detours and obey the instructions of Gardaí, Civil Defence and event marshals on affected routes.

Meanwhile, the council has confirmed that roads maintenance work will take place on the N22 Killarney-Tralee road on Monday next from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Traffic management will be in place between Lawlor’s Cross and Scart Cross for the duration and motorists have been advised to expect delays.
