Residents say man chased boy cycling home

Worried residents in the parish of Cromane have alerted Gardai to concerns about the behaviour of a man who local say has been acting suspiciously in the area.

Cromane Community Council has reported an alleged incident that is said to have occurred on Monday last on the Lake Road.

They claim that a man jumped out from behind a bush or a telephone pole and chased a boy who was cycling home.

“Fortunately, the child got away from the man,” the organisation said in a post circulated on social media.

They said although the man was on foot and there was no car in the immediate vicinity, a vehicle later passed other children who were cycling in the area and it had not been spotted by children who cycled on the road just before them.

The man has been described as having dark hair and a beard, wearing a black t-shirt and grey tracksuit pants.

Gardai have been notified and Cromane Community Council has asked anybody that might have seen a man fitting that description  or any strange activity in the area to contact Killorglin Garda Station on 066-9790500.
