THE wonders that are to be discovered in the hidden valleys of the MacGillycuddy Reeks are being revealed in a new brochure on the area being launched this week.
The publication has been produced by an alliance of businesses from the Black and Bridia Valleys as well as from the Reeks and Glencar areas with support through the Interreg Rural Alliances project operated by South Kerry Development Partnership Ltd.
The brochure outlines in detail the many attractions that await visitors to the region and provides them with information on the many businesses in the area whose services they can avail of during their trip.
Chairman of the Hidden Valleys of the Reeks Alliance, Ciaran Ryan, said the brochure aims to showcase the amazing attractions that exist in the area that are literally hidden from both locals and visitors.
“This region offers not just some magnificent scenery but it also enables people to engage in many different outdoor activities in a fantastic natural environment,” he said.
“Unfortunately, many visitors go out and tour the South Kerry area without ever realising the wonderful experiences that exist right on their doorstep in these on the edge of Ireland’s premier tourist town of Killarney.
“We hope that by publishing this brochure we will encourage both the locals and visitors to come out and explore this region and enjoy its wonders,” Ciaran said.
SKDP Rural Alliances project manager, Seán de Buitléar, paid tribute to the businesses involved in for the work they have done developing a brand for the area.
“We hope the brochure will encourage many more people to explore this region thus helping to develop new opportunities for the businesses themselves to grow in the years to come.
“Tourism is a vital source of income to areas such as these and it is fantastic to see the businesses actively working to develop the opportunities they have through engaging in an initiative such as this” Seán said.
The new brochure will be widely available in the region and beyond and it will be updated regularly to ensure all relevant information and details for visitors are included.
