GARDAI in Killarney are preparing to swap their peaked caps for more dapper attire when they host the Kerry Garda Division Black Tie Ball in the Killarney Oaks Hotel on Friday, April 13.
And they have a very special treat to give away to one lucky guest, particularly if they are a fan of the smash hit TV3 crime soap Red Rock.
One of the organisers of the gala event, Garda Gillian MacEoin, has divulged that the team at Red Rock Garda Station are devastated that their superintendent has refused to give them the night off to join their Kerry colleagues at the stylish ball.
But they will be there in spirit and they have sent on a real collector’s item – a selection of signed photographs of the Red Rock boys and girls in blue to be given away on the night.
And here’s the really exciting news – one of the photographs has been signed and kissed by Red Rock heart-throb Garda Paudge Brennan – An Garda Siochana’s answer to George Clooney.
The night itself – the first Garda Ball for over quarter of a century – promises to be one of the social highlights of the year with a champagne and canapé reception at 6.30pm, a five course banquet and dancing until the early hours.
Tickets are €65 each and they are available from committee members or at any Garda station.
