STAR goalkeeper David De Gea might now have just the incentive he needs to stay with Manchester United and resist the temptation to accept a big money deal to join a star-studded Real Madrid.

The shot-stopping Spain international won a cash prize in last week’s Dr Crokes GAA Club lotto and the windfall might just be sufficient to keep him at the Theatre of Dreams at Old Trafford.

De Gea scooped a €25 cash prize when three of his numbers came up on a ticket bought for him by Killarney’s original Red Devil John Lyne.

And the United link with the Crokes lotto doesn’t there. Believe it or not, but De Gea’s team-mate Marouane Fellaini also won €25 in the very same Lotto draw thanks to another ticket purchased by Man United fanatic Lyno who is known for his exclusive red and white dress code.

It’s not the first time that the Crokes and United supporter has won cash for his Old Trafford idols. Former boss Sir Alex Ferguson and the flamboyant Eric Cantona have both registered successes in the Black and Amber lotto in the past and, in fact, this is De Gea’s second time winning.

There was a more local feel to this week’s Crokes lotto with the big jackpot won by a great club supporter who never misses a weekly draw.

Tim McCarthy scooped a cool €4,200 after he purchased his winning ticket from Joan O’Shea in Jack C’s Bar, Killarney.
