This year they plan to bring 16 children and two interpreters to the parish in July. As usual, the visitors are kept by generous host families, free of charge.

To make this programme financially possible, the branch needs €13,000 to cover the cost of air fares, insurance and other expenses. All donations received are used strictly to finance the summer programme.

This is the day on which towns, villages and local communities make a huge effort to clean up and tidy their locality with a view to having a cleaner environment for all to enjoy. Rathmore Community Council appeals to all to support the venture and bags are available from Nora at The Washbasket.

Basketball: Under 17 Girls: Gneeveguilla 59 Ballybunion Wildcats 39. This was the last game of the season for both teams and with wins hard to come by in this very competitive league, both were hoping for a victory.  Gneeveguilla started strongly winning the first quarter 14 to 8 points with Eabha Murphy and Aine O’Brien in fine scoring form.

Gneeveguilla went on to win by 20 points thanks to great performances by the likes of Eabha Murphy, Catherine Daly, Maura Amy O’Connor, Brenda Murphy, sisters Chloe and Rachel Fitzgerald, Michelle O’Sullivan and Aine O’Brien,
Under 16 Boys Division 2: Gneeveguilla 72 Caherciveen 57. This game was set up like a league final as the teams were level on points at the top of the table and this was the last game of the year with the winner to take the league title. Cathal Collins, Patrick Brosnan, Paul O’Leary, Evan Cronin, David Gleason, Ronan Collins, Donal Hurley all played very impressively.

Greetings: Happy Easter to everyone and safe driving over holiday period.
