The excitement mounted on Friday night when a ceremonial start saw participating crews taking to the town centre to officially get the rally underway under the Christmas street lights.

The rally itself got underway this Saturday morning with crews taking to the traditional stages of Moll’s Gap and Ballaghbeama with two runs over the Kilgobnet stage providing a big challenge to drivers.

The rally will finish this evening with the crews passing over the finish ramp at the rally headquarters in the Gleneagle Hotel before a gala dinner and prizegiving which is the perfect end of season reward for the competitors.

Taking charge of this year’s rally this year is Anthony O’Connor, the previous clerk of the course for the International Rally of the Lakes, who is using his knowledge of the Killarney terrain to give the competitors the utmost rally test.
