The weather played its part as a shirt-sleeved crowd gathered at Killarney Racecourse this Sunday afternoon for the first day of the May festival of racing.

There was great action on the track – with Joseph O’Brien and Rachael Blackmore again making their mark – and a great atmosphere in the stands as punters enjoyed a relaxed afternoon of quality racing, food, drink and sunshine.
The pandemic really had an impact on business at the track and although racing took place last year, it wasn’t the same behind closed doors.
Today, however, it was a different story as families turned out in force and punters did their best to outsmart the bookies.
The May races will continue on Monday and Tuesday.
