Pupils and families give generously to help fill shoeboxes

Pupils and teachers from Holy Cross Mercy National School delivering the shoebox appeal gifts to the Dealz store

Pupils of Holy Cross Mercy School in Killarney – and their families – have contributed generously to the Team Hope Shoebox Appeal.

The collection was organised by the school’s Green Team and all generously filled boxes were personally delivered to the organised collection point at Dealz on High Street.

Team Hope’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal is an annual campaign that delivers gifts straight into the hands of children affected by poverty.

Often these gifts are the only gift that a child will receive at Christmas and the joy that they bring is incredible.

Since 2010, with the public’s help, Team Hope has delivered over 2.5 million shoebox gifts to vulnerable children across the world.

Gift items deemed suitable for the shoeboxes include pens, pencils, crayons, colouring books, markers, sharpeners, erasers, soap, hairbrushes and combs, toothbrushes and toothpaste, socks, underwear, hats, scarves and gloves.
