Public urged to make their voices heard

AN important issue that has been on the agenda in Killarney for some time will come under the microscope at a public meeting in the town this Tuesday night.

The pressing need for a day centre to cater for Alzheimer’s patients in the immediate Killarney area will be discussed in detail and the public has been invited to attend and express views on the matter.

It will take place in the Killarney Heights Hotel at 8.00pm and officials of the Health Service Executive will be in attendance to share their opinions and to listen to public concerns.

Those affected by the condition, their families, their carers or anybody with an interest in the subject is asked to make an effort to attend.

The whole issue of a day centre for Alzheimer’s patients has been high on the local political agenda for well over a year and the matter has been repeatedly highlighted at Kerry County Council by a number of local representatives, including Cllrs Michael Gleeson, John Joe Culloty and Donal Grady who have all asked the government to intervene and provide an adequate service given the growing need for such a facility in the town.
