THERE is a new man at the helm of Killarney Rotary Club.

Outgoing president Paul Sherry has handed over the chain of office to incoming president Mike Stack, the managing director of Tricel.

Attending the event, at the club’s weekly lunch, in Gaby’s Restaurant, were their fellow Killarney Rotarians as well as Rotary Ireland assistant district governor Ger Kilcommons.

The new president, from Coolcaslagh, Killarney, is also a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014.

“I am looking forward to my year in office and continuing Killarney Rotary Club’s involvement in its many charitable and community-based projects,” he said.

Tributes were paid to Paul Sherry who spearheaded a series of highly successful events over the past year.

Paul, who is manager of Killarney Outlet Centre, thanked his fellow Rotarians for their fantastic support and encouragement over the past 12 months.

“I said at this event last year that it is a great honour to be a president of a Rotary Club. Well, I can wholeheartedly say that it has been an honour and a privilege to be president of this club,” said Paul.

“I have had a fantastic year and have enjoyed it very much. I wish Mike every success in the year ahead and it gives me great pleasure to hand over these chains of office which I know he will wear with pride.”
