Playground plan still short of set target

Plans for the new playground at Ballydribeen in Killarney

The design for a new state-of-the-art playground at Ballydribeen in Killarney has been finalised but the fundraising goal set by the project committee is still falling short of the original target.

An aim of €10,000 was set by the committee and while the support received has been hugely encouraging, it has not yet reached the ultimate figure.

“This project is truly unique as it is designed to be inclusive for children of all abilities,” said spokesperson Iza Dian.

“We are incredibly excited and thrilled by the support we’ve received from the Killarney Municipal District, local councillors and businesses,” she added.

The playground’s inclusive nature is particularly important, especially as the adjacent sports centre will be a home for Kerry Stars Special Olympics Club.

It will also be located next to Killarney Legion’s grounds and Killarney Celtic FC on land provided by the county council.

“It’s also worth mentioning that it will be a multi-purpose facility, with a play area for children and an outdoor gym for teenagers and adults,” Iza stated.

The committee would be extremely grateful for any additional financial support that can be pledged via a via the GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-to-build-new-killarney-playground.
