AND so the curtain has come down on another all-singing, all-dancing and thoroughly engaging Rathmore pantomime and, in addition to the real feelgood factor it has generated, the fantastic production has generated a fantastic €23,000 for the Kerry Parents and Friends Association’s local services.
It was a case of lights, curtain and action as the multi-talented Marian Players Pantomime Group took to the stage on several nights, with additional matinee performances, in the local community centre.

This year the old favourite Rapunzel was the chosen production and the local cast and crew produced a show to remember with great colour, great laughter and great individual and collective performances.
This was the 32nd year if the annual panto and, once again, one of the personalities at the helm was the incomparable Val Moynihan who was a founder member as well as being producer and director for an incredible 22 years before he passed on the baton to Brian Hickey and Eilish Coakley, a very accomplished team at the helm.
Last year’s production of The Pied Piper raised an impressive €22,500 for the Kerry Parents and Friends Association, to bring the total raised over the years to well in excel of quarter of a million euro – not including this year’s fundraising effort.
