A POWERFUL new play which draws from real-life experiences, including the Kerry Babies Tribunal, to re-imagine the predicaments of Irish women is to be staged in Killarney.
St John’s Mill Theatre Company will present new writing by Fiona O’Connor in the form of a one-act play for four actresses.
It will be staged at Killarney Cultural Centre for Culture Night on September 22.
Female icons of Irish legend and literature will recount their secret journeying, both internal and external, in an anarchic piece of theatre.
Linking to the Repeal campaign, the play creates a collage of voices using fragments of historical testimony, from The Late Late Show to the Kerry Babies case, to address the predicaments of Irish women.
Funded by Kerry Council Arts, the play will commence at 9.00pm and it will be followed by a questions and answer involving representatives of Kerry For Choice and Repeal the 8th.
