Mayor Pat McCarthy: welcomed decision

KERRY County Council has welcomed the ruling of the Commercial Court dismissing An Taisce’s challenge against the granting of planning approval for 28kms of improvement works to the N86 Camp to Dingle Road.

The estimated cost of the scheme is €69 million and the proposal incorporates dedicated cycle tracks which will help to further promote Kerry as a cycle holiday destination.

Today’s decision of the court now allows the council to progress with the detailed design and tender process of an initial 3.5km section of the route for which €3 million had been allocated by Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

Mayor of Kerry, Cllr Pat McCarthy, welcomed the decision of the court and the positive commitment of Transport Infrastructure Ireland towards the project.

“This road improvement scheme is vital for the economic development of the Dingle Peninsula and for further enhancing the tourism potential of the county,” the mayor said.
