Permission sought for 32-bedroom boutique hotel

The Amber filling station and retail units at the Muckross Road-Ross Road junction

PLANNING permission has been sought for a new 32-bedroom boutique hotel, very close to the centre of Killarney town, on a site currently occupied by two retail units and a filling station.

The location, at Scrahane, is at the junction linking Muckross Road and Ross Road and there is currently a supermarket, an off licence, first floor offices and an Amber fuel station on the site where Bowler’s Toyota garage was previously located.

The application has been submitted to the planning office of Kerry County Council by Killarney Reeks Limited and it seeks permission to demolish the existing structures and a canopy and the decommissioning and removal of the underground fuel tanks.

In addition to the 32-brdroom hotel, the plans also include a ground floor retail unit, a basement car park and ancillary works.
