LIGHTS, curtains, bark!
Producers of a major new tour of the smash-hit Broadway and West End drama Legally Blonde: The Musical have found just the dog they’ve been looking for.
And this very distinctive pampered pet is destined for fame.
EastEnders’ Rita Simons and Bill Ward, star of Coronation Street and Emmerdale, are the human stars of the show but the big production also has two dogs in the cast – a Chihuahua called Bruiser and another called Rufus.
Bruiser was already cast and will be on the road with the show but producers decided to hold auditions for Rufus in every town the show is visiting – including Killarney.

Auditions were held in the Gleneagle Hotel on Saturday and there was no contest when the casing director set eyes on ‘Bruno’ from Kilgobnet, Beaufort who fits the bill just perfectly.
The dog’s very proud owners, Sue, Holly, Sinead and Alphie Barrett, are just as excited as Bruno who can’t wait to get his teeth into his part.
Associate Director, David Barrett, remarked: “Whereas Bruiser is the cute, tiny, adorable one, with Rufus we were looking for the total opposite, a big, brutish, dog and preferably a Bulldog as in the film but we are certainly open to options.”
Legally Blonde: The Musical is an all singing, all dancing romantic comedy, a fun-filled, feelgood pink fest. It will run at INEC in Killarney from July 10-14.
