Paudie Healy: European role

A KILLARNEY man who has been one of the driving forces behind the Kerry Stars Special Olympics Club has been elected to the board of directors of the European Network for Accessible Tourism.

Paudie Healy of Universal Access Ireland was appointed at a gathering in Brussels.

The managing director of the European Network for Accessible Tourism non-profit Association, Ivor Ambrose, said the Killarney campaigner brings a wealth of expertise and competence to the European Board in tourism for all.

“He will play a key part in the new four-year strategy on the development of the European organisation globally,” said Mr Ambrose.

Paudie said he was delighted to be elected to the 11-member European board and thanked all the countries that voted for him.

“I look forward to contributing to the ongoing development of tourism for all and especially to the development and roll out of the first global accreditation programme for tourism service providers by the European Network for Accessible Tourism and also to contributing to the European organisation’s growth and expansion strategy globally,” he said.

The mission of the European Network for Accessible Tourism is to make European tourism destinations, products and services accessible to all travellers and to promote accessible tourism around the world.
