
A MAN aged in his 60s perished in a house fire in Kerry in the early hours of this Friday morning.
It is understood that firefighters returning from the scene of a road crash spotted flames and smoke billowing from the dwelling at Glencuttane Lower, Kilgobnet at around 4.40am.
Two units of the fire service from Killarney and another from Killorglin battled the blaze and the body of a man was recovered from the bungalow which is on the Glencar side of Killorglin.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains will be transferred to University Hospital Kerry where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
It is understood the man was a native of the area and lived alone.
Gardai have sealed off the scene for a forensic examination to determine the precise cause of the fire.
