Park run showcases stunning course

WITH, perhaps, the most visually spectacular course in the country – or beyond – over five dozen athletes set a hot pace through Killarney National Park, at Knockreer, for the Killarney Mountain Festival 10k Run.

Organised in association with Killarney Valley Athletic Club, Gneeveguilla AC and Alan Ryan’s Hardman Events, proceeds will go the Killarney Community Microtrack project on the grounds of St Brendan’s College.

The well marshalled event, which started on Mission Road, took in the Cnoc an Rí, the Deenagh river walk, the lake shore and Ross Castle and back to the Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty statue on Mission Road via the river walk.
The microtrack group, currently awaiting a response to an application for LEADER funding, received the €10 entry fee from the 67 participants who took part on Saturday.
