
FORMER Australian Football League player Padraig Lucey will deliver specialist strength and conditioning training at the Gleneagle Hotel’s Aquila Club Leisure Centre over the next 10 weeks.
The Killarney Padraig, who played all his underage football with Legion GAA Club before catching the eye of AFL scouts, recently returned to his hometown having spent the previous two years playing with Geelong Football Club.
He was immediately snapped up by St Paul’s Basketball Club and made a big impression in his National League debut with Scott’s Lakers.
“During my time with Geelong FC, I learned a lot about elite training and performance and gained knowledge from some of the best coaches, trainers and athletes that Australia has produced,” said Padraig.
While in Australia, he trained with former Liverpool FC and Port Adelaide FC strength and conditioning coach Darren Burgess, former Australian rugby team strength and conditioning coach Scott Murphy, former Leinster rugby strength and conditioning coach Chris Dennis, and conditioning coach and former Australian Rugby strength and conditioning coach former Leinster rugby strength and conditioning coach
Padraig is a qualified gym instructor and is currently studying Sport Studies and Physical Education in UCC.
The fee for the 10-week strength and conditioning course will be €150 and it will include a weekly one-hour strength and conditioning session, a weekly one-hour coaching session on nutrition and wellness and full membership of the Aquila Club Leisure Centre.
“In these training sessions, I will share the knowledge and training that I have gained through my fitness journey while playing many sports in different environments and in different countries around the world,” said Padraig.
