THE eighth annual Radio Kerry Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser for St Vincent de Paul will take place on Friday, December 10 and, to date, over €120,000 has been raised to help the charity to assist others.
Members of the public are being invited to don their festive attire and share a photograph or video via social media, email, text and WhatsApp and make a donation to the St Vincent De Paul.
Individuals, families, school and university students, teachers, lecturers and administration teams, colleagues in small, medium and large enterprises – whether working from the office or home – can all participate and people have been encouraged to do by using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or TikTok.
Paddy Kevane, President of The Society of St Vincent de Paul Kerry, said last year’s event raised an unprecedented €25,000.
“We are so grateful to everyone who participated and donated and, once again, we appeal to the people of Kerry to get involved on December 10 and help us to help fellow Kerry people who are facing a very difficult Christmas,” he said.
Donations can be made directly to the St Vincent de Paul Kerry bank account, their shops around the county or to Radio Kerry. Online donations can be made via Radio Kerry Jumper Day and a dedicated ‘phone line for donations (066-7128021 – Extension 1) has also been set up.
The money raised is used to fund a number of St Vincent de Paul projects throughout Kerry, including Christmas food hampers, Santa gifts for children who are homeless and in direct provision, Christmas Day meals-on-wheels and the Kerry Education Fund.
St Vincent de Paul operates donation centres in Killarney, Tralee, Castleisland, Listowel, Killorglin, Dingle, Kenmare and Abbeyfeale.
