There’s always one.
Appearances are usually reserved for major golf events, international rugby games or top class athletics gatherings but now a Kerry jersey has been spotted at the closing stages of the epic Tour de France.
As Slovenian Tadej Pogacar gritted his teeth and peddled his way to glory at the weekend, there were a few Kerry voices on the roadside and upon ditches willing him to succeed.

James O’Sullivan from Holy Cross in Firies and his brothers, Owen and Michael, realised a long-time sporting dream when they organised a four-day trip to see the legendary sporting Tour de France.
They took in a time trial and a dramatic climb on the Col de Braus in the Alpes-Maritimes mountain pass as well as the grandstand finish.
“It was a great experience to be there and to see it live,” said James.
The witnessed Tadej Pogacar completing a remarkable double as he also won the Giro d’Italia earlier in the year, the first person to achieve that goal in the 21st century and following in the footsteps of Ireland’s Stephen Roche who did the double in 1987.
