AN impressive 29-points haul by Brian O’Neill – including nine three-pointers – and another 20 from Aaron Jackson inspired Scott’s Lakers of Killarney to an emphatic 101-78 victory over Portlaoise Panthers on Sunday.
The crowd at Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre got good value for their support of the home side who always held the upper hand and were quite clearly the better outfit on the day.
O’Neill and Jackson aside, Lakers were also well served by Mark Greene, Toby Christensen and Mike McGinn who all finished on double digits on the scoreboard while Xavier Talton, Jamie O’Sullivan and Seamus Brosnan all contributed significantly.
It was a hectic weekend for Lakers as they were also in action on Saturday night when they overcame Tolka Rovers in Dublin on a 93-61 scoreline.
Toby Christensen (24), Aaron Jackson (22) and Mike McGinn (18) top scored in that encounter.
Garvey’s Tralee Warriors accounted for Griffith College Templeogue – but only just – with an 82-81 success on the road while Keane’s SuperValu Killorglin pipped DCU Saints 79-77 in Killorglin.
