A super talented trio representing St Brendan’s College in Killarney became the first ever Kerry team to win the prestigious National Secondary Schools Pitch and Putt Championships – and they did so in dramatic fashion when winning by just one shot.

The Killarney A team of Cillian Courtney, Robbie Harnett and Fintan Martin ensured a real glory day at Hillview in Clonmel with a combined score of five under par for a one-stroke win.

It was a remarkable achievement for the trio who made it a season to remember with a provincial and national double after they clinched the provincial crown in Mallow two weeks previously.

The St Brendan’s College B team of Ryan Neeson, Cathal Kelly and Ryan McCarthy finished 10th overall.

Meanwhile, Deerpark Killarney Pitch and Putt Club star player, Damien Fleming, and his clubmate John McGrath will complete in the Munster Strokeplay in Bruff on Sunday while James Fleming and Noel Moynihan will be taking part in the Intermediate event on Saturday.
