OLYMPIANS Aileen Crowley and Monika Dukarska are planning to make a splash as ambassadors for the 2021 Kerry Mental Health and Wellbeing Fest which gets underway on Saturday.
Fresh from their remarkable efforts in Tokyo, Killorglin’s two world class oarswomen are encouraging people of all ages to get involved for the good of their mental health.
The Kerry Mental Health and Wellbeing Fest aims to create awareness of, and schedule events that empower people to engage with, the five ways to wellbeing which are connect, give, take notice, keep learning and be active.
The Olympic rowers, as women in sport, said they are delighted to see that many of the events during the Kerry Mental Health and Wellbeing Fest will be geared towards women and girls.
Organised by an inter-agency steering group, the Kerry Mental Health and Wellbeing Fest is held annually to highlight World Mental Health Day on October 10.
The organising committee is a collaboration between Connecting for Life Kerry, Healthy Kerry, Kerry County Council, the HSE, NEWKD, SKDP, Kerry Mental Health Association, Jigsaw Kerry, Munster Technological University/Kerry and the Kerry Volunteer Centre.
The key focus of the #KerryMHWFest is to promote mental health and wellbeing in Kerry through a fun and interactive programme of online and in-person events.
All events are free but registration is required for some activities. Visit HealthyKerry.ie to see the full event schedule.
