My Father’s House is inspired by the extraordinary story of O’Flaherty and how he and a band of activists saved thousands of lives in Nazi-occupied Rome.

At a sellout gathering in the Gleneagle INEC Club, after which he happily signed copies of the book, the author read a number of passages from the book, along with live performances from soprano Sharon Lyons and countertenor Nils Wanderer.
Dublin-born O’Connor is a novelist, screenwriter, playwright and broadcaster. He is the author of 10 novels including Star of the Sea, Ghost Light, Shadowplay and the international bestseller My Father’s House which was released last January.

Among his awards are the Prix Zepter for European Novel of the Year, France’s Prix Millepages, Italy’s Premio Acerbi, an American Library Association Award, the Irish Pen Award for Outstanding Achievement in Literature and the American Ireland Funds Literary Award 2022.
O’Connor’s work has been translated into forty languages. In 2014 he was appointed Frank McCourt Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Limerick.
