
Uisce Éireann’s reluctance to respond to queries regarding serious issues raised by councillors in Killarney is bordering on criminal negligence, a meeting of Killarney Municipal District Council has been told.
Cllr John O’Donoghue said 18 months after he had raised concerns regarding on the condition of the waste water treatment plant on Ross Road, he is still waiting for a reply.

He said he had sought answers on the capacity level the plant is currently operating at and if any upgraded were required.
“This matter is of the utmost importance given the close proximity of the plant to the lakes of Killarney,” Cllr O’Donoghue stressed.
It is essential that our queries are answered. At this stage I might as well write it on a not and pin it to a tree outside the town hall.
“What is the problem that Irish Water will not respond to the municipal district councillors? he asked.
He said if anything happens the condition of the lakes, the people will know who to blame as Irish Water’s lack of information is bordering on criminal negligence.
Council officials said they will again contact Uisce Éireann in an attempt to get a reply to Cllr O’Donoghue’s queries.
