
THERE is a new woman at the helm of the Kerry branch of the Irish Hotels Federation.
Niamh O’Shea, general manager at the five-star Killarney Park Hotel, has been elected to succeed Patrick O’Donoghue, of the Gleneagle Group, in the head position of the organisation in the county.
Emer Corrdian, general manager of the Cahernane House Hotel, is the new vice chairperson and Bernadette Randles of the Dromhall Hotel has been returned as treasurer.
Tom Randles of the Randles Court Hotel has been reelected as public relations officer of the branch.
At the annual general meeting of the branch, donations of €5,000 were made to a local charities following a number of fundraising initiatives undertaken by the branch.
Over 60,000 people are employed in Irish hotels and tourism is the country’s largest indigenous employer, supporting approximately 230,000 jobs which is equivalent to 11 per cent of total employment.
