EXCLUSIVE

After years of intensive lobbying, a minor injuries clinic is finally to be established in Killarney, KillarneyToday.com can confirm.

The facility – which will include a badly needed x-ray unit – is being developed in conjunction with Cork Kerry Community Healthcare and it is aligned to the HSE Capital Plan for 2024.

The development was confirmed today at a meeting of the Regional Health Forum where Cllr Marie Moloney tabled another motion on the matter.

Chief Officer with Cork Kerry Community Healthcare, Tess O’Donovan, said the development of a minor injuries clinic for Kerry is progressing and that the chosen location is Killarney.

The location of the facility has yet to be confirmed.

Cllr Moloney said she was delighted with the news and that it was a long time coming.

“This will also relieve some of the pressure on the accident and emergency department of University Hospital Kerry were staff are constantly over-burdened,” she said.

“It’s great news for the people of Killarney and, indeed, people all over South Kerry,” Cllr Moloney stated.
